Havoc may stink, but it doesn't smell.

Look people. You don't "reek" havoc or "wreck" havoc, you wreak havoc. But apparently there are even federal judges who don't get this very basic point.

There's just no excuse for that. Doesn't he have clerks? I guess everyone has to learn the "spell-check doesn't catch everything" lesson sometime.

Seriously. Actually, maybe it was the clerk. See, that's what happens when you hire the wrong clerks and overlook (AHEM!!!) the really deserving ones.

I've long been aware that most Americans can't spell English very well, even supposedly educated ones, so I have concluded that spelling ability is a talent like being able to sing or paint. Otherwise how explain PhD's who are unable even to distinguish the finer points of to, too and two? It's disappointing, to say the least.
