Havoc may stink, but it doesn't smell.

Look people. You don't "reek" havoc or "wreck" havoc, you wreak havoc. But apparently there are even federal judges who don't get this very basic point.

There's just no excuse for that. Doesn't he have clerks? I guess everyone has to learn the "spell-check doesn't catch everything" lesson sometime.

Seriously. Actually, maybe it was the clerk. See, that's what happens when you hire the wrong clerks and overlook (AHEM!!!) the really deserving ones.

Me, bitter? Nooo. :D

As all good eng lit students know there's only one thing to do with havoc and that's to cry it...

"Cry 'Havoc,' and let slip the dogs of war;
That this foul deed shall smell above the earth
With carrion men, groaning for burial."

Ah, the bard...

Clerking? baby, it's sooo beneath you.

I've long been aware that most Americans can't spell English very well, even supposedly educated ones, so I have concluded that spelling ability is a talent like being able to sing or paint. Otherwise how explain PhD's who are unable even to distinguish the finer points of to, too and two? It's disappointing, to say the least.

nwsixer, great point. I'm not sure what it says about me that my most vividly-remembered quotation of that particular bit of Shakespeare comes from the lips of Christopher Plummer -- in *STAR TREK VI* .......

<3SF, aaaaamen. I blame the rap hip hop music. ;)
