Protein smoothie

I've never been fond of the whole protein-smoothie idea. But I'm really trying to eat healthy/get in shape/lose weight/etc. so I decided to try one today.

It's not too bad. Peaches, pineapple, banana, ice, water and a couple scoops of protein powder. Tastes a little artificial-y but not unbearably so.

So maybe I could get used to it. Now, that super fiber powder stuff I got... eh... I'm not sure. We'll save that experiment for later. Stupid Whole Foods, not having tablets...

I do probably 3 smoothies a week. Big fan - its the fastest way to get those servings of fruit, plus protien. To cop an ad line from Red Stripe, Horray smoothie!

Is Red Stripe one of those highfalutin Minnesoh-da chains? ;)

Hmmmm, I think I used to use wheat germ in my smoothies. (That added more fiber, though, than protien.) They were pretty good.

I could see wheat germ -- and I'm much more concerned about fiber than protein anyway. If it's a choice between slimming down and bulking up... well... I can only rebel against my culturally-ingrained gender identity so much...

Do you have a smoothie book? Smoothiemaking is such an art form (i.e., everything really does NOT taste good together!) that I wouldn't wanna screw it up (or add too much protein)!

So true, Roonie. I don't have a smoothie book -- I picked it up at my gym's cafeteria on my way out after pilates this morning... it makes me feel so healthy :)

I'm very disappointed in you, Law Fairy. Red Stripe is BEER!

lak, I may be an alcoholic, but I've never claimed to be a beer girl ;) Anyway, being from the gorgeous desert paradise of western Colorado, where spring water is plentiful and delicious microbreweries ubiquitous, I think I can be forgiven for my ignorance of an east-coast import, teehee.

Hmmm, nwsixer -- I don't think I've seen those before. I know I haven't tasted them before -- they look yummy!
