Beware, Californians!

I'd heard a rumor that today was the last day for us to have our moral character applications complete if we want to be sworn in before the California Supreme Court in December (assuming, of course, that we've passed the bar... shudder). I had no idea where mine stood, so I called the moral character people to ask.

Apparently mine got wrapped up sometime last week. Hooray! One less thing in the way of me becoming a California lawyer. Mwahahahahahaha.

In OH, you have to have a "character and fitness" interview before you can sit for the bar exam. As I have led an angelic life, it was really easy for me, but some of my friends were really sweating it.

An *interview.* Hmmm.

I'm not aware of any interviews in CA -- too expensive most likely (though, maybe for the more borderline candidates? Not sure). We do, however, have to be close buddies with at least five reputable "professionals" who can vouch for us in a questionnaire the bar sends them. We also have to report basically our entire life history. And we have to turn it in by April-ish, since they tell you it takes "a minimum of 180 days" to process but they don't give you an actual deadline for submission to work by. Sooo helpful, these folks.

Some might even say it's altogether ooky.

But at least we have good weather year-round :)

And it where all of the Beautiful People live, I've heard. But I've visited Vegas many times, which seems to be where all the Beautiful People vacation.

I just turned mine in before that deadline, so, if I do happen to pass, it'll be some time before I get admitted. That's okay, I don't really expect to pass.

micah -- I don't visit Vegas often enough. But if that's where my peeps are, I best be getting out there more :)

slt -- I'm seriously worried about panicking myself into passing out next Friday. I don't think anyone thinks they passed, but obviously some of us must have. I think if the state flunked everyone there would be some sort of uprising, or something. I have another friend who didn't get hers in really early, so they can't guarantee her that she'll be done in time for swearing-in next month. LA-HAME.
