Maybe he can eventually appeal to Judge Posner

I can understand going to creative lengths to afford improvements to your house, but selling your baby wouldn't be one that would have occurred to me.

Although, frankly, the kid would've probably been better off with the peeps he tried to sell her to.

Weekend fun

Nothing like billing around 50 hours in a week (note: that's *billing*, not just working), including a night you're at the office until midnight, only to get an email on your blackberry first thing on Saturday telling you you fucked up (when it's only partly your fault, of course) and you have to go to the office (half an hour each way on a good day with no traffic) to fix it.

And *then* noticing that in the comments on your sister's blog she's apparently upset with you for some baffling reason she doesn't bother explaining.

And then realizing that your weekend is half over and you haven't even had a chance to drunk (yes, that's "drunk" not "drink") away the bad mood.

I just need to reiterate...

How *awesome* H&R Block is. I've just opened my mail from today and, lo and behold, I have a refund check from the Great State of California (or as we natives say, "Kully-FOH-niya").

Sadly, the money is going straight to Visa. Sigh.

In what universe is it right

that Kellie is *safe* after a performance like last night's, and CHRIS and PARIS are in the bottom three????? WTFFFFF????

This week's SNL recap

I think Andy Samberg may be SNL's bright shining hope for redemption.

Check out the pure genius that is Laser Cats.

I've finally done it

I've finally followed through with my million-year-old plan to open a cafepress store.

The creativity bug has not given me too much material yet, but check it out anyway and buy stuff! I promise to love you if you do :)

Seems fitting somehow

Yesterday was bright, sunny, beautiful, and warm. It felt like spring had arrived. Friends in Colorado, Chicago, and New York confirmed their nice weather, as well.

Today it's gloomy and gray and sad. And I realize, it's Good Friday.

I'm suddenly in the mood to go to church.

Personally, I like me with a fresh cut of chu-toro sashimi

It's uncanny how right this random generator thing was about me:

How to make a law fairy
Ingredients:

3 parts anger

1 part self-sufficiency

3 parts energy
Method:
Blend at a low speed for 30 seconds. Add a little lovability if desired!

My new favorite company...

is H&R Block. I tried doing my own taxes using good ol' reliable Turbo Tax, but a random combination of things (firm giving me a summer stipend and me selling some old stocks from an employee purchase plan from YEARS back) conspired to make it damn near impossible to get them done myself. I never took tax law, and not just because I hate taxes. Well, okay, I guess that's pretty much why.

So I made an appointment and took my stuff in to H&R Block. They got me like twice as much of a refund as I would have gotten using Turbo Tax (for a relatively low charge) and they filed all my stuff online for me. I had emails in my Inbox by last night telling me my state and federal returns had been accepted and I could expect my refund shortly.

Good God, I had no idea it could be so easy. It's like this whole new world has just been opened up for me.

I suppose that's one description of customer service...

Am I the only one who thinks it odd that the pre-recorded voice when you're on hold reminds you that all available representatives are "servicing" other customers?? Whatever happened to less is more? I would think "serving" or even "assisting" would work just as well, and it doesn't imply that you run a whorehouse.

Then again, we are talking about corporate America here. Good to know they're honest about something.
